Airgunners of Arizona has been in existence since September 1992 and we believe it is one of the 3rd oldest air gunning clubs in the US.   There are 4 specific founders, Robert Buchanan, Stephen Buchanan, Seth Staples and Larry Piercy. The club was specifically started to promote air gunning, but also to boost Airguns of Arizonas business/sales.  While we still share a similar name with Airguns of Arizona, we are not directly affiliated with them anymore.  We have, however, benefited from their continued support and sponsorship over the years and are very appreciative of that.

Our very 1st match was shot September 26, 1992 in a  construction dump waste yard.  It had a 25 foot pile of dirt, old Stumps, bent culverts and all sorts of construction debris that was PERFECT for Field Target.  Targets were purchased and the fun began!  The anniversary of this very first shoot is celebrated each year with the Founders Cup Match.  We are very grateful for our roots.

It hasn't all been easy though. Over time Larry had become the lone continuous member of the club.  At times he served as President, Secretarty and Treasurer all at the same time. The club reached an all time low of just 4 members before re-surging to the robust club it is today.   This resurgence was a product of joining with the original Phoenix Airgun Club which included Mark Kauffman and Bobby Corcorran.  We also  had key members like Dale and Debbie Keiser who joined and shouldered much of the club load that Larry had been handling himself.   Also to be noted, the owner of Daystate at the time, Gary Sanders became a big supporter of the club.  Greg Glover captured most of the early historical photos.  So while the club has struggled,  it has now flourished because of the efforts of enthusiastic airgunners and the persistence of a few unrelenting leaders.  A true testament to "it takes a village.
